FARSUND & LISTA
Farsund and Lista is Southern Norway at its most charming
The center of Farsund meets you at first as a typical white southern town, but if you look further, you discover that it is much, much more. Kaperbyen, The American Lista, Trappebyen, Rederbyen or Kaperredet - dear child has many names. At the far end of Listalandet is Lista lighthouse, the municipality's most visited destination. Here you will also find Sørlandet's longest beaches, perfect for both swimming and surfing.
Meet Jon Aslak Fintland
A rare opportunity to visit sculptor Jon Aslak Fintland at home in his garden and studios in beautiful historic surroundings. In his own words it is the place that gives him the inspiration to create his evocative pieces. His garden is filled with plants and art pieces in stone and wood enabling you to discover the occasional blurry line between art and nature and your own part in it. Jon Aslak encourages you to be at ease finding your own favourite garden area and enjoy the wonders of the season before we enter the upstairs and downstairs of his barn studios. Jon Aslak is always working on an art installation and has exhibited in the USA and Norway. In his barn we enjoy his playfulness in his creation in conversations over a cup of coffee. He
is sure to leave a lasting impression!
Nordberg Fort
At Lista Museum you will find Nordberg Fort, built by the Germans during World War 2. This fort is one of the few coastal forts built by the German occupation forces in 1942, that is preserved in its original form. The fort, with its original buildings and moats, is in a fantastic location with views of the Lista landscape.
The fort also has a newer information building with exhibitions, children's activities, a museum shop and a café. The exhibitions cover topics such as World War II, the prehistory of Lista and changing art exhibitions. Experience the exhibition " With Junaiten in the Trunk " about the labor migration from Lista to America in the interwar and postwar period.
The schooner Aida
The captain and proud owner of the Farsund darling and schooner Aida, welcomes you to an exclusive sail off to experience Farsund's unique coastal culture. Set sail in this 48 feet beauty, and learn about authentic privateer nests from the time of the Napoleonic Wars, when Denmark-Norway was involved on the French side. The captain is well versed in this part of the world history and has a burning desire to pass on the dramatic events that happened in these waters.
Although the rib plan of Aida was drawn back in 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts, she was first built in 1989 at the Brekneholmen Shipyard at Lista. She then sailed the fjords of western Norway before returning to her current home of Farsund harbour.
Festung Lista Hangar 45

The museum is today the largest, and visually, the widest-established theme-based historical adventure museum in southern Norway with a total of 1,500 m2 indoor exhibitions located in the X-German aircraft hangar.
The American Lista
Who knew that the town of Vanse is home to Brooklyn Square? Turn onto 8th Avenue and experience American nostalgia brought back by emigrants returning home. A Brooklyn Bridge, a real NY Subway sign and an American Diner are only a few of the fun things to discover here. Above the Trunken Department Store and a treasure trove of American goodies, is the highlight of the square, an authentically furnished American apartment.
Brought back across the Atlantic, there is enough to fill every room in the 50s and 60s style for a fun and delightful mental travel back in time. Only adding to this quirky and original attraction, you might see a classic American car parked outside. Continue Route 8, and loop around the beautiful open landscape of the Lista peninsula.
